Pictures of Emperor Dragonflies

No reason for this thread as for once i'm pretty sure of my ids but i thought i'd share a couple of pictures that i managed to take today and am really chuffed with

A sticky situation .

The cobweb was huge and contained several long legged spiders (don't know what type as am a wee bit arachnophobic) and the poor dragonfly had landed underneath it and couldn't really take off without risking entanglement. I couldn't bear the thought of that and so I have to admit that I encouraged him onto a blade of rush and moved him out of the way of the cobweb.

After several frustratuing attempts I finally got an in-focus picture of a female Emperor Dragonfly ovipositing.

Very nice shots. I would have removed the web myself, after all the spider can spin a new one.

Take your point about the web...but when i said i'm a wee bit arachnophobic what i should've said is i'm seriously arachnophobic and it was all i could do to get close enough to take the picture.

Nicely caught cornish-thyme. Not often you get chance to see an Emperor ovipositing.

Thank you - it's certainly the first time one's been kind enough to do it within range of my not fantastically good camera's zoom lens.
