New Forest Grasshoppers & Crickets

Hi all,

Many of you will already be familiar with my Dragonfly diary and my quest to photograph as many different speices as possible from the New Forest this season,well when i havent been stalking the world of Odonata ive been chasing (quite litterally in some cases ) Grasshoppers and Crickets.

Theyve made a nice change from the dragonflies in the sense that i dont have to wait till mid morning before they awake and they are still active well into the night and it doesnt matter if the suns not out!

Ive now decided to take my website in a new direction and concentrate on the wildlife within the New Forest,with its diversity and sheer volume of animals im going to be kept busy for along time!

So here are my findings so far;

Not bad for only about 3 outings and all of these are only 10mins from my house!

Nice shots as usual Keith, the Large Marsh Grasshoppers are stunning aren't they? You should be able to find a very good range of species in the forest, a few rare ones too!
One point though, your third Woodland Grasshopper is a Field Grasshopper, Woodland Grasshoppers usually have a very dark 'face' and have much less hair on the thorax.
