| | | Re: Two hoverflies. The second one could be Scaeva selenitica, I haven't had that one but apparently it's the most common. S. pyrastri is also said to be common, I had some in 2006 on a Lilium Black Beauty. The only other time I saw one was last year and I got one pic partly hidden by grass.
The white on S. pyrastri is very white, where S. selenitica is creamy. Don't take a lot of notice of some pics you will find, some are wrongly named, I saw a Eupeodes named as this!
I can upload my pic so you can see the starkness of the white.
