Hello,
Could someone please tell me if this is a fly immitating a bee or wasp, it was about an inch long (if that's any help  )?  
also could someone please tell me what these are, there were load in the grass verges outside my work place yesterday  
and finally are these two the same species of two different ones

The second one is Rhagonycha fulva |

Hi Graham, 1: Hoverfly, Volucella zonaria 2: Soldier-beetle, Rhagonycha fulva 3: Grasshoppers, Not good on Orthoptera...  |

Wow! i only thought hoverflies were only around 1 cm, didn't realise they came in king size as well lol |
