Male Blue tailed has segment 8 of the abdomen blue and segment 9 black, like yours.
Male Scarce Blue has segment 9 blue with 2 black spots and a small bit of segment 8 blue

| | | Re: Another damselfly for id please Thank you now all i need to do is remember the scarce blue tailed (sbt) has a smaller blue bit further back than the blue tailed (bt), i also gather the sbt damselfly prefers minimal vegetation. i'm 90% sure that all of the dark bodied blue tailed damselflies that i keep seeing are the bt damselfly as the area around the pond is very over-grown in most places. wish they weren't so camera shy though. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
