| | | Odd bumblebee: male lapidarius or ruderarius? A couple of these around just lately. Not a good photo but the hairs on all tibiae were reddish-orange. The tail seems an odd shade for lapidarius and there was a faint yellow band at the front of the thorax (not visible in photo).
Is this within the range of variation for male lapidarius, or is it male ruderarius?

| | | Re: Odd bumblebee: male lapidarius or ruderarius? It is typical of Bombus rupestris male, the cuckoo bee to B. lapidarius. They have black hairs on the face.
