| | | Are these female blue-tailed damselflies? Hi Folks
Just wondering if these are one of the female colour forms of blue-tailed damselflies? I took them this morning in my local London park (Ken Gdns). There seem to be more blue-tails than any other species in the park so am assuming these are the same?
TIA for any advice.

Yes this is Ischnura elegans f. infuscans-obsoleta female. There is a form 'infuscans' which has olive green thorax but I seem to have f. infuscans-obsoleta as well as this year 'rufescens', also the standard colour form.
They seem to be more common than the Common Blue here, I've only seen a male and female of that this year and a dead male about 3 years ago!

| Many thanks for the reply & confirmation Janet. Same here in London. In Ken Gdns this year I'd guess the blue-tails outnumber the common blue damsels about 50 to 1.
