I thoroughly recommend:

A Photographic Guide to the Grasshoppers + Crickets of Britain + Ireland by Martin Evans/Roger Edmondson

You can tell this is Field Grasshopper by the incurved keels on the pronotum + the fact the underside of the thorax is hairy- these features are shown well in your excellent photo. They tend to prefer drier places.
