| | | Re: Building a moth trap Yes mercury vapour is excellent but the blended bulb is cheaper and as good imo and you don't need the choke etc. Be careful with water/rain though and use a RCD at the mains end. You will catch more moths this way than say if you use actinic or uv (black) lamps.

| | | Re: Building a moth trap I use a blended bulb and am very happy with the results. However, a pure Mercury one really is superb.

| | | Re: Building a moth trap OK i can get wood from B&Q and my dad or me can cut it into the write size and glue together so thats wood sorted. I should be able to get perspex from B&Q as well and cut into shape so thats perspex sorted. I have text my sister to see if she has egg boxes but they shouldn't be hard to find anyway.
Ok so i think i just need the bulb and it's wiring to put on the list.
Questions.
What bulb should i purchase to get great results and spend under £20 including the wiring?
Where can i purchase this bulb and what it needs to operate?
How many egg boxes do i need and of what size shall they be?
Thanks guys your great

| | | Re: Building a moth trap No matter i have my list:
1 125w bulb
1 choke (Parmer Q 125 - 24 , 2-4 )
1 porcelain lamp holder
1 three core electrical cable
2 sheats exterior plywood 606 x 12 mm
1 sheat of perspex
Is that ok and have i got too much or too little plywood? The size of the box is 45cm x 45cm and 30cm high and i need a little extra for the lamp and for the perspex to rest on. Sorry with all the questions i just want to get this right.
