| | | Wasp nest danger? On mowing the lawn last night I discovered I had a wasp nest [football size] in a bush barely a yard from the footpath, I hadn't even noticed any wasps this year, the flight path is across the path, I don't like destroying any wildlife un-necessarily but am a bit concerned of perhaps any danger of them deciding to attack, I tell myself that they've been building this nest for some time and ignoring me when I am gardening, but I've read they can be unpredictable., Do they attack dogs?
I'm also posting this on Wildlife thread |

| | | Re: Wasp nest danger? A few years back we had one built in the hedge less than a metre from our back gate. I did get stung once while leaning on the gate and surveying the wider world. However, we found that if we walked briskly past the wasps were unconcerned, they only started buzzing if you stood close by.
This year I have a different problem, a nest literally under the front door step. The wasps don't chase us but I am taking steps about this since they may get stroppy with people standing at the front door (but it's one way to get rid of window salespeople and Jehovah's Witnesses? ).
I'd see how yours go but just stay some distance from the nest. |

I've been tiptoeing past so I'll get a scoot on, and as they have obviously been building it for some time and I've been tending plants about two feet away, maybe they like me, or am I being fanciful?? seriously though thanks for your input | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
