| | | Hover fly ID Initially when I saw this I thought it was a bumble bee but noticed that the behaviour didn't seem right. It was darting about and then stopping and hovering for quite long periods (hence my chance to get a picture). I assume it is some sort of hover fly but can't ID it. Habitat was on a wide ride in woodland. Never noticed them before in this area. Size is around that of a bumble bee. |
