| | | Spider & Flies for ID please Sherwood Forest 5 July 2009
All were found in the oak woodland.
Found low down in grass.
On brambles between Oak and Conifer woodlands.
On vegetation under Oak trees.
On vegetation under Oak trees
On an Oak tree. I thought that Crane flies had there wings spread out at 90 deg to the body. So this one has be confused.
Any assistance towards an ID will be appreciated.

1 Dioctria rufipes
2 is an anthomyiid - possibly Botanophila fugax
3 is another anthomyiid - Hylemya vagans
4 is Metalimnobia quadrinotata (or similar). |

| | | Re: Spider & Flies for ID please Many thanks for your guidance towards an ID on these images. It is very helpful to be able to add keywords to ones images for future reference.
Thank you Lawrence for the fly IDs, and to Venger for the spider ID. Hi lync, and thanks for your input which gave another sp. for me to read up on. It all helps with learning about these fascinating insects.
Les
