yes it was on radio 4 today programme, i missed the beginning of the article, i am under the belief they have migrated to Dorset can someone confirm, because I want to do some research on it??

Are they surviving in Glos, I worked on this project in the late 90's and at the time the Glos population was not doing well, i have lost contact with the members and does anybody know???

email glos wildlife they may know... I heard early on they were doing well but don't know the situation now. You can listen again to 'today' can't you on net?

I think this might have been because Jim Naughtie wound up the article with the fanciful and inaccurate wrap-up "so... if you're in Dorset and see a big blue butterfly flapping around... you'll all know what it is"

a) He has the flight season totally wrong and ...
b) Dorset was referred to because Jeremy Thomas (who has led the re-introduction scheme from the beginning) is the head of CEH in Dorset (soon itself to become extinct)

What sort of research do you want to do? It must be about the most researched butterfly in Britain!

I believe I'm right in saying that if you look at Europe as a whole, it's not a particlularly rare species. True?

What great uplifting news. Well done to the conservationists who have battled to re-establish them. If goes to prove that it can be done and that hopefully the pendulum will swing in favour of our threatened wildlife species.
