| | | Help! Found funny little white caterpillars! Last night I glanced up at the bedroom light shade (no idea why!) and noticed thiese teeny little white worms type things. When I looked more closely I saw the moved like a caterpillar.
I cannot stand tiny little bugs, don't mind big spiders etc. but not tiny things!!
We hoovered them off then stripped the bed, hoovered the room and as a last precaution took the light fixture off and rinsed it off.
Couldn't/can't stop itching and all my googling hasn't drawn up any answers!!
There was a small stringy cobweb a couple were climbing on (missed it this week!) but for the most part they were just crawling around the shade.
Any idea what they are?! I though moth larvae but all the pictures I've seen don't resemble them.
They were really tiny little white things that moved like a caterpillar. I'd say about 2 or so mm long.
Please help me stop itching and panicking!!! |

| | | Re: Help! Found funny little white caterpillars! There are a few moths caterpillars that you'll find in your house (mostly feeding on carpets, clothes etc.), although at 2mm I don't think a positive ID will be possible!
I suspect what has happened is a gravid female has been attracted to the light in the bedroom (as most moths are) and has just been desperate to lay her eggs
You wouldn't normally see the caterpillars as they are usually under the carpet or skirting board.
No need to worry about them, most houses have them, especially older ones with decades of dust like ours |

| | | Re: Help! Found funny little white caterpillars! I did wonder about Moths but as it was on the light and not on carpet as most places state them to be I wondered what on earth they were!!
They really are quite tiny and if they didn't make me come out in goosebumps they were quite sweet to watch crawling like caterpillars!!
Thank you for putting my mind and rest. We must of had a desperate mother moth!!
Thank you |

| | | Re: Help! Found funny little white caterpillars! I wonder if anyone can ID the caterpillar in my garden. Its medium brown, furry, with a bunch of black hairs sticking straight up at one end. On its back is a single row, (5).. of stiff cream coloured hairs looking like the bristles on a toothbrush.
Is it a moth or a butterfly?..... And in case of an ID would anyone have a pic of an adult?
Many thanks. |
