Not quite so pretty when its taking bits out of you and leaving you with a huge, sore bite

Funny thing is I've been bitten by them in the past but don't think I've ever seen one close up ! Good job this one was well behaved

I agree it looks like Haematopota pluvialis. by the time you look into thier eyes ...its too late

For a fly I think it's prettier than most.
