Wasp ? for id. Eyes meet.
I see a reference to male Astata boops eyes meeting, but I can't find a photo. Is this a possibility or could it be another Astata species ? At first I thought it was a bee. Thanks. M.

Tricky one, but again I'm sure you're right with Astata. The amount of hairyness suggests A.boops.

Thanks. The key I have talks about A pinguis having a 'large white spot on face' and A boops having a black face, but I still couldn't decide from my photos. BTW is it pronounced boops or bo-ops ?

I think it's just male pinguis with a white spot.
