This is in the family Dolichopodidae. I've had a few around lately, some have been cooperative in letting me get some pics after a shy start! One I got yesterday was big, close on 10mm which is bigger than I have seen before.

Can't say for sure, but it looks like Dolichopus campestris.

Thanks Janet. I'll it down as Dolichopus sp.

I did try searching in the Gallery, but it's a right nightmare trying to search for flies; and other stuff, come to that !!

It looks like a female Dolichopus ungulatus. Lower occipital bristles black, yellow legs and several bristles towards tip of hind femur.
