| | Tabanidae sp ? Hi folks
I'm hoping someone can help me with ID's
I am sure the 1st pic is Tabanidae, and I think T.sudecus but there is no dividing stripe between the eyes, Venation and triangular markings on thorax seem ok for that species and it was a big fly, thats what caught my attention in the first place,
Second pic I have no Idea of, so I need some help with that one,
The vein R1 has a right good kink in it and should be a clue but I cant seem to find it out,
Cheers
Duncan

| | | Re: Tabanidae sp ? Pic#2 is a Syrphid fly rather than a Tabanid, and is a species in the genus Eristalis |

| | | Re: Tabanidae sp ? Hi Eucera
Thanks for directing me along the right path, I knew the 2nd one wasn't a Tabanid, I just couldn't place it,
I'm off to have a look on google
Cheers

| | | Re: Tabanidae sp ? I haven't got around to looking at the other one, need to get out the sun's shining! Take a look at Hybomitra bimaculata, yours looks to have orange patches under the wings but that's a hasty suggestion for now! |
