| | | Ichneumon wasp ? ID Assume this is an Ichneumon wasp - caught the end of a 5 wasp mating bundle on the lawn - this one decided to walk home. About 16mm body length.
Guessing it's an Amblyteles species.

| | | Re: Ichneumon wasp ? ID This is a form of Amblyteles armatorius, you get the normal form with the plain abdomen, then you get this stripey form. If you compare the other features like morphology, leg, antenna and thorax colour you will see they are the same. Im not sure what causes the striped abdomen form though. OR if it occurs in other similar species which makes me alittle weary, so perhaps leave it as Amblyteles sp which it definately is. |
