| | | Any Stag Beetle sightings?
Hi all
I work in a country park full of deadwood ideal for Stag Beetles, and work early and late shifts so would have expected to have seen one by now. However, I got my first sighting outside my house in urban south london after a late shift at work on 31st May!
Just wondered if anyone had seen any and if so when their first sighting was? |

It's about now we start seeing them crashing around. I'll let you know when we do.

Hi Wellies101,
As Aeshna5 says Adam started a thread below,Have seen two males so far and reported them to the great stag hunt website.
Here in north kent we have had a strong breeze for the last few days so this has probably not helped.
As well as logging my sightings to the great stag hunt site I will be keeping my own report at Steve Hale images.com | Stag Beetles (Lucanus Cervus)...

I was on the train on Tuesday and overheard a woman talking about some giant beetles with huge pincers she'd seen fighting and then flying over her garden over the bank hol.
I remembered the first time I saw one flying and how surreal it was (Lived in Teddington then near Bushey Park which is perfect stag beetle territory)
Anyway her male companion told her with an air of authority that she'd seen "May bugs"

Saw the 1st about 10 days ago, then a dead one 3 days ago and nearly ran one over this morning with my bike!
