| | Watch out for Red-veined Darters! Anyone heavily into dragonflies probably already knows about this, but for anyone who doesn't there have been quite a few records of Red-veined Darters recently in southern England (including Cornwall and Cambridgeshire yesterday) - so keep a look out! Any darter seen at this time of the year is worth a very close look (it's still very early for Common and Ruddy Darters), and if you see a male that is already mature enough to be red it is an even more likely candidate for Red-veined.
Perhaps we'll end up with loads of them this year - a bit like the Painted Lady Butterflies?! |
