| | | Wasp or fly id Hi, can anyone help me with this one, not sure if its one of the wasps or a ichn fly mimic. It was great taking the shot as he turned his head and looked at me before turning back to what he was doing. There is also this tiny bee
if anyone can put a name to it.
Many thanks |

| | | Re: Wasp or fly id Hi k9!
It's an ichneumon, though not A. armatorius as I originally thought! I am not experienced enough to go further... Do you have a second shot of the bee at all? |

| | | Re: Wasp or fly id Though you're right in that it's very much like it, in my first post in this thread I said I didn't think it was, for three reasons; I can't see a yellow scutellum, the rear tarsi should be a dark yellow but your individual's appear to be black, and it also lacks the yellow tip to the abdomen, at least from the given angle. So, in my experience it isn't unless someone else has a reason for these being absent! Nice, clear photo, but I really need to have dorsals if possible to say either way!

| | | Re: Wasp or fly id Thanks for your help, and sorry Jason, I got so wrapped up there I forgot you'd said it wasn't armatorius, my memory span is already deteriorating!
Thanks for getting back to me. k9 | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
