A male scorpion fly, Panorpa sp. - there are 3 species in the UK but you won't be able to tell which one from the photo. |

Its a female Scorpion Fly, I think there are three species in the UK, I don’t know how you tell them apart but I am bet someone can.

Didn’t look closely enough before I posted, it is of course a male.

Ferret | As charlieb says, it's a male - you can tell by the bulbous 'scorpion like' appendage on the tail. Female's tails taper to a point. | | |
