| | [ID] Ladybird larva, bee and whitefly please! Hi everyone!!
Three for ID please! 29/5/09, the garden today 1. Ladybird larva... ...but lacking anything but grey! 29/5/09, the garden today 2. Small bee... ...on a Herb Robert flower 29/5/09, the garden this evening 3. Elongate whitefly... ...bigger than the usual ones. Any ideas?

| | | Re: [ID] Ladybird larva, bee and whitefly please! The bee looks like one I had last year, Osmia leaiana male but you need to be able to see a semi-circular mark on the lower abdomen as there's another similar.

| | | Re: [ID] Ladybird larva, bee and whitefly please! What plants are they on? they are early instar larvae. Which makes life harder. Its most likely a 2 spot but could also be 16 spot although 16 spot is usually found in meadows. |

The area contains all the usual garden weeds like herb robert, cinquefoil, brambles, dandelions, etc. If there are any that you think should be there given the ladybird species, I'll have a quick look. Thereare 16-sp's about a mile away in a grassland situation.

Very interesting, the best thing to do is keep an eye on these larvae in about a week try and get another photo and hopefully I should be able to tell which it is. When larvae are early instar there is not a great deal between them. The habitat is potentially good for both species (as well as others which it could be). |

Your whitefly could be one of the Coniopterygidae.
