It's a Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa). I think this is an immature male.

What do you mean by immature HW. I suppose as they get older they get a bit battered like me

What I mean is the male matures to a distinctive powder-blue colour.
Two of my local ponds have these at the moment, they are definitely one of the commoner species around here.

Thanks. I have learnt something about Dragonflies.  I guess it would have to be something like pigmentation so they actually get better as they get older
