mystery insect???
found this in a shop,where my other half works.

its got orange legs,black and white striped body and is about 60mm long from tip to tail.

Hi,

looks like an Ichneumon fly to me but some one more knowledgeable will be able to give you a better idea.

I'd say that's the giant ichneumon, Rhyssa persuasoria.

Also known as the Sabre Wasp,I just found out.
Sabre Wasp Rhyssa persuasoria.
I can get up and walk around and get my bottom of this chair.
Apparently very common in this country?
In my 37 years i have never seen one and have always lived in semi rural areas!.
