| | | Re: Bee's in bird box I was'nt sure about the bumblebees Bumblerumble, I hav'nt seen these before, I thought maybe the orange bits should have been yellow, and your camera had picked up an orange light or something, but Stuart has thrown some light on them now, how wonderful, would love to have a nest of them in my garden, lovely looking bees.
Like Stuart says they won't bother anyone, it would be nice to leave them where they are, but if you still feel you need to move them, It would be good to move them a few feet each night, as a lot of the baby worker bumbles sleep away from the nest, and they would be looking for it in the morning, and will die if they can't find the nest, sending you a pic of one of my big girls, I love bumblebees, let us know how they get on. | | Re: Bee's in bird box Hello Pauline & Stuart,
Pauline I love the picture what a cutie!
Thankfully Stuart and yourself have given me alot of information on these little wonders, and we will bee keeping them (get the pun) where they are.
Now that I know a little more about them, it seems unnecessary to move them at all and they aren't causing anyone any bother.
In fact my son is quite proud of these new bees and has shown his friends who were fascinated to watch them at work.
We are all very excited and hope we can provide more data if needed.
Wishing you all a lovely summer full of flora and fauna abundance thrown in with a good dose of sunshine!!
