| | | Urgent Help Needed I have a problem with bees. They are all over my front door, about 20 of them. Every year we get them coming onto our drive but this year there are many more of them. We cannot get out of our property for them. I dont know what sort of bees they are, but I cannot let my dogs out for fear of them being stung. How can I get rid of them? |

| | | Re: Urgent Help Needed Hi and welcome to WAB!
First off, can you describe them physically, or better still take a photo of them and post it here? ( obviously obscuring anything personal...) and tell us about their behaviour, ie are they looking for crevices or maybe just warming up on your door? |

| | | Re: Urgent Help Needed Hi, Thanks for replying so quickly. They are quite big bees, round rather than long like wasps.I would have said they were bumble bees, but seeing that there are so many species I am probably wrong. I have seen honey bees, bumble bees and miner bees but never knew there were other varieties! We get them every year about this time and they settle where the dogs have weed usually. There must be something in the pee that attracts them. We do disinfect the driveway but this year there are more of them and they seem to be heading for the white PVC door. We have washed the door down with disinfectant but it doesnt seem to be making much difference. I cant get close enough to the door to take a pic (not one that you would be able to see much in anyway). I dont want to kill them, but I am worried about going outside. |

I'd certainly give incense a try while you are waiting for help.

| | | Re: Urgent Help Needed Try spraying them lightly with water, or burn some dried grass in a tin and create smoke like we do with bee swarms. It quietens them down and may make them fly off.
A solution of biological washing powder splashed over the doggy area might work. |
