Take a look at the pics on HYMIS which should be correct. Fotogalerie - Hymenoptera Information System (HymIS)
Also spend some time looking through all the different Orders, this one in Symphyta. You will see just how similar they can be, and how carefully you need to look at all the details.   |

Wow! Well if it is an Athalia I think you are spot on, as A.lugens is the only other close one but the legs are to dark. |

Do you know what? I think I may just put this pic to the side and review it again in 10 years, when Ive had chance to learn a bit more lol!

Thanks though! What a nightmare these little critters can be.... | Don't be put off, do what I do and call it what it most looks like as it does match up well. No-one would know the difference anyway! It's not as if it will be for anything but your personal records.
Generally, if it looks right it usually is, and in ten years time you still wouldn't be any wiser on this one!   |
