Arge are not particularly difficult to identify, generally speaking. A really good set of photos for each species might suffice in most cases, but sometimes, yes, you do really need to get them under a lens.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Insects for ID please Ah... John then. Well, thanks John!
I have one of these black ones, I may post them up later... I wrongly assumed they were toughies externally |

| | | Re: Insects for ID please OK... here goes! #1: Do you have a dorsal shot ( top-view down)? Anyway, it's a Weevil. #2: Thick-kneed Flower Beetle, Oedemera nobilis - the male is the one that lives up to it with bulbous thighs on the rear legs, the girl's are thin; I can't quite see the hinds, so I assume it's a girl or else the wider part if nothing else may still show
...nice close-ups

| | | Re: Insects for ID please think Jason's ok with the Oedemera. Can't agree with the weevil, however, but a top view would be better - might be a longhorn but I'm not 100% sure |

| | | Re: Insects for ID please Ah... yes. I was mainly 'convinced' by the lateral view of the head; the eye shape and presumed texture looked to me like a Phyllobius... I couldn't quite guage it's type side-on. We can agree a dorsal would be good !!
