| | | Wood Tick....Lyme disease warning You know people like us should be aware of things like this!!
Wood ticks are becoming more abundant due to climate change and milder winters, they seem to like our forests, and moors, particularly around deer!
Bit scarey that, one of my main enjoyments is deer stalking through the forests of Exmoor.
They need to be attached to us for about 12 hours to transfer the disease with a single bite that we can't feel.
If the symptoms are detected and treated early then we'll be fine, but if left it can develop into a serious condition that attacks our nervous system.
So just be aware, check yourselves when you return home and if you find any, remove them and consult your doctor.
Hope I haven't scared anybody |

I've got a feeling it's more widespread than we realise, particularly if our doctors lack of knowledge is causing them to mis-diagnose the symptoms as Zildjian asserts they do!!
It's wildlifers like us, always in some bog somewhere, who are at risk but probably poo poo it.
Do you, by any chance, know what became of Zildjian?
Cheers for now......Paul |

| | | Re: Wood Tick....Lyme disease warning This morning found a small tick on my leg as I was getting dressed- it was about 40 hours earlier I had been doing wildfowl counts in Richmond Park, where I assume I contracted it, as it is famous deer park. I smothered it with vaseline to suffocate it + removed corpse with forceps this evening + now hope for no symptoms! |
