| | | Unknown Large insect Just had a HUGE moth/wasp thing come into my room, had to kill it not knowing wat it was and with a 4 month old baby in the same room, i didnt want to risk anything.
It has the abdomin of a wasp and the head of a moth, its abdomin has like yellow triangle shapes running down and a big red point at the end, might be a stinger, i wouldnt like to find out, looks pretty dangerous tho. Its head looks to me like a typical moth. it has some frilly bits on the end of the antenna. Its wings are see through brown with a sort of brown armour wing things :P dunno what they are called. It made a buzzing when it flew, quieter than a bee but was about the same size as a bumble bee. It was after the light in the room and was bumping into things.
Anyone know what it is? |

| | | Re: Unknown Large insect Scary looking things, but pretty dumb and just as harmless! My ex called then Apaches...(as in helicopters!)
With young children around it is best to err on the side of caution if you don't know what it is....mothers have heightened protective awareness at these times

| | | Re: Unknown Large insect Yeah it seemed very stupid, we heard some strange knocking sounds, thought it was the cat in the hallway. Then suddenly that came bombing into the room. I bashed it with a paper and popped it in a plastic tub. Its woken up since my first post and back on its feet. I realise now that its some sort of beatle, its pretty solid. Ill release it when im done looking at it. |
