| | | Re: Bee for ID I'm more inclined to say Bombus lucorum. But I'm definitely no expert.
However, if we manage to keep this thread going a bit longer, hopefully a more enlightened person will make an appearance and give a definitive answer. |

| | | Re: Bee for ID Hi Peter,
I don't know if this helps? The Bumblebee Conservation Trust have a bumblebee ID page. Bumblebee ID page - learn how to identify the UK's bumblebees
I am barely even a beginner and know nothing!
It has the correct leg shape to be female. The middle stripe is only on the abdomen and not on the thorax which rules out Bombus hortorum.
Bombus lucorum looks right except that the middle stripe would be more yellow.
I have however found this which is from the Wikipedia page for Bombus lucorum. File:Mantukimalainen.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I know it's Wikipedia but it might be it? |

| | | Re: Bee for ID Dennis,
Thanks for your tips and links. I think you are spot on. The Wikepedia image is very similar to mine. The middle stripe is pale on mine but the hint of yellow is visible at the start of the abdomen. From what I have read elsewhere, there is a variation in colour intensity to be expected.
The site you linked to is excellant and I have downloaded the three guides from there and also saved the site to my favourites.
