The central dark patch going down the face on D. rufipes appears to be very dark and continues all the way down as in this pic, Dioctria rufipes - Raubfliege 01.jpg
On D. baumhaueri it is faint and does not go as far down the face, as shown in the pic on TOLWEB which matches Tormentil's pic. Can this be variable?
Also, as mentioned earlier it looks like a female, the abdomen hasn't swollen much but there is a little stretched section showing, albeit not very well. In D. rufipes this is usually a quite bright pinkish colour, does the abdomen colour vary with species where it stretches? |
