| | | Re: Orange Tip Hitching a Free Ride I wish I had Orange Tips hitching a ride when I ride my bike, the last time I saw one, was when I was trying to photograph one, but I fell over and he flew off. Never had the opportunity since.
When was this picture taken? |

| | | Re: Orange Tip Hitching a Free Ride A couple of weeks ago I was leading a plant/insect walk + I pointed out large numbers of nymphs + few adult Parent Bugs on some Grey Alders. An hour or so after returning home, after a tube + 2 bus journeys, I went to get something from my rucksack + there sat on the top was an adult Parent Bug! I then put the hitch-hiker onto Silver Birch in my garden which is also a food plant of this species. |

| | | Re: Orange Tip Hitching a Free Ride Quite a few insects have spread their ranges in this country due to hitching. I've seen aphids fly in a train window & leave a few stops down the line. Long Winged Coneheads are a prime example though, with most new records occuring near major roads. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
