| | | No cricket/roach sounds at night Everyone knows that places like Spain or Greece are buzzing with the sounds of crickets at night. It was something I always considered to be a hot country phenomena.
But having recently been on holidays much closer to home in Germany and Czech Republic I noticed there too in the summer the nights silence is broken by very loud cricket/roach noise and these countries are certainly not warm in the winter!
So why is it that here we don't hear this at night. I admit that in some parts of the UK one can hear the very quiet zzz sound of grasshoppers both at night and day but certainly nothing like they get on mainland europe.
I've spoken to people who seem to think we do get these night calls here in the UK but we don't. Just step outside your door at night and listen... not a single churrrp -.- |

| | | Re: No cricket/roach sounds at night If you live in an area frequented by Great Green Bush-crickets (mainly southern + more often coastal), they are pretty loud. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
