| | | Psyllid for ID Can anyone help with this please? It was taken on May 7 in Lancashire. The nearest trees are overhanging limes (Tilia), but it's in a park with many other plants and trees. |

| | | Re: Psyllid for ID It's a Cacopyslla sp., Stephen, but these are often very hard without dissection. I think this is probably C. ambigua, which is common around Salix species, but I'm guaranteeing nothing here! |

| | | Re: Psyllid for ID I've just been back to the place where I took the photo, and there is a wllow tree about 50 metres up-wind. Looking beneath it I found several more similar individuals. This seems to support the suggestion that it could be Cacopsylla ambigua, and it certainly looks like the pictures on British Bugs. Thanks again, Joe. |

| | | Re: Psyllid for ID You're welcome! I was finding C. ambigua today as well, so it's certainly out and about in abundance at the moment.
Most species are very host-specific, so try sallows, oak, larch and anything else you can find. For example, I got two of the more attractive species (Craspedolepta nebulosa and Neocraspedolepta subpunctata) on Chamenaerion today. They're a fascinating little group to study, so I'll be looking forward to more of your finds! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
