| | | LNHS Odonata field trip to Cornmill Meadows. For those in the London area who are not members of the London Natural History Society, we have a field trip to Cornmill Meadows 'Dragonfly Sanctuary' tomorrow (Saturday 16th May) to look at Odonata and everything else. It is a full day meeting, starting at Cheshunt station at 10:00. Guests are welcome. Details on the LNHS website.
I put this up in the 'meetings' section earlier, but that doesn't seem to get many visitors.

| | | Re: LNHS Odonata field trip to Cornmill Meadows. This is a great site for dragonflies, which I visit regularly. There are currently quite a few species on the wing including hairy Dragonflies, so if the weather is kind it could be a good day (although I won't be able to attend this one).
LNHS field trips tend to attract people with interests in all aspects of natural history, regardless of the 'advertised' target group for the walk so a good variety of wildlife is usually seen.

| | | Re: LNHS Odonata field trip to Cornmill Meadows. Hairy Dragonfly is one of the targets for tomorrow. We'll probably benefit from lots of sharp eyes to help. The forecast is dry, but not too warm - there should be plenty to see in any event. Wind tents may be needed for that crucial photo.

| | | Re: LNHS Odonata field trip to Cornmill Meadows. Can't complain if we get images like that Roy, very nice. Do we need to be in any particular area for the Hairies ? It is a big place.
I know where the white-legged damselsfly are from previous years.
Thanks, M. |

| | | Re: LNHS Odonata field trip to Cornmill Meadows. Wonderful images Roy. The Hairy is one species I have seen very little of, never mind taken photos of!
Would have loved to make this, but alas I have other things planned. Have never been to Cornmill, but it is on my list of places to visit this year (in fact the next day we are going to have some good sunshine). Would love to hear how this goes and any particular parts of the site to visit.
