| | | What is the difference? Gi, Im hoping someone can help explain the difference between Otiorhynchus sulcatus and Hylobius abietis. As I have seen many pics like mine labelled as either Vine weevil, or Pine Weevil. So now I am unsure of my pic |

| | | Re: What is the difference? mm vine weevil nightmare for any nursery- the bits I looked for in id'ing was the long nose like bit and the shell/ body has obvious ridges going along it and the matt grey colour
fraid if I saw one in the polytunnels or greenhouses at work I killed them, and the grubs too. They especially loved cowslips & primroses, they'd eat all the roots & kill the plants (insert swear word here!). Far to good at reproducing too
Proably not such a problem in a garden as thats so much bigger than a load of pot plants |

| | | Re: What is the difference? Yeh their grubs can be extremely destructive! I read somewhere that no male has ever been found (I think they were making out that they were asexual), I think they guy must have had his info wrong. Has anyone else ever come across this claim? |

| | | Re: What is the difference? Yes I found a few more Vine Weevil grubs in a pot yesterday. I always put them on the birdtable where they quickly find a useful purpose! |

| | | Re: What is the difference? Well its better than just killing them, at least another animal will find use with them. Kinda like playing God lol | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
