| | | Please help me identify this Hi there, ive recently been finding what I at first thought was a millipede or something like that but im beginning to think its some sort of larvae as I have found quite a lot of them lying around and theres a hole at the very top of them as if something has came out them ( mostly in the hall near the front door )
I also often find what I believe to be slaters around the same area in the hall, they are also in the picture of the suspected larvae
and then also today I found what looks like some sort of beetle (or ewww possibly a cockroach?) Im thinking its just a beetle because it looks like it has vertical lines rather than horizontal lines on its back
I dont really know much about bugs and larvae so can anybody identify these things for me? all the help is very much appreciated, thankyou

Is your location in the US? I notice you are using imageshack.us. It is helpful to mention the location.
The pics are not really showing enough detail to tell any of them, but I wouldn't think the millipede is Tachypodoiulus niger, it looks more brown and the legs don't look white. It is however a Snake Millipede, chopped in 3 pieces by the looks.
The others in the pics with the millipede are dead woodlice. They may have been squashed in the door as it was opened then shut, I find millipedes dropping off the outside of the door. Woodlice come inside too, I'm always putting them out, they may have suffered the same fate or been eaten by a spider. They like moist places.

Janet | Snake millipede is also a common name for Tachypodoiulus niger
it looks like the photo has been taken under incandescent light which is what is giving the photo a yellowish look

| | | Re: Please help me identify this I reckon the beetle is a species of Nebria, a carabid or ground beetle. But if it is USA then I don't know what species you have over there |

| | | Re: Please help me identify this thankyou for the replies everyone, its much appreciated.. im in the UK, and the reason I even bothered to take photo's of these things is because the past few years it seems bugs have really increased in my house
last year I had what I believe were carpet beetles and I think they are actually back again as I have found about 10-15 of them in total this year, last year I really had a lot of them so im hoping i dont have a repeat of that this year
If i find any more i will post a picture of them aswell and see what you all have to say, thanks guys | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
