Long shot

In mixed woodland last Friday a group of us found an insect with gold wings. It was shaped like a fly, with long active antennae. The gold seemed to be scales as best we could tell. No-one knew what it was. Some thought a moth, others a fly, I thought it might be parasitic because of the antennae, but no ovepositor could be seen. About 7/8mm long.

I know this is almost impossible without at least a photo (no luck there), but can anyone suggest what it might have been?

We called it the Elvis fly, because of the gold lame suit, but it would be nice to know its real name.

Check out moths in the Adelidae and Psychidae families likely one of those.

I've had a quick look, but they don't look right to me.

I've got a poor photo of it now, so maybe that will help.

Well its a moth , possibly belonging to those families I mentioned.
