need help about dragonfly larvae

would the larve eat tagpoles..how am i going to store its food?i see lots of tagpoles there..i rekon tagpoles would be easy to store for few days while the larvey eats them..?

I would avoid using tadpoles as amphibians are on a decline at the moment, using other pond life would be more benificial. Possibly buying shrimps or maggots from fish food/Angling shops could be a possibility. They will eat a wide range of organisms. It would be hard to predict an emergence date if you did post a photo, you could say roughly by the size. Also we would be able to say what species it was.

Interesting thread, and one I will follow closely once the larvae is caught.

One question I do have, how do you know there is only 20 in your local lake?

I would love to watch/photograph the emergence, just need to get up early and find one to watch!

Don't forget it can take up to 3 years before a dragonfly nymph is mature and read to leave the water.
You really would be better to try to get there early and catch it in its natural surrounding that would make a better pic surely..

so you can stay in for days weeks years and watch a jam jar with a stick in it

or go out on a sunny morning and sit by a nice lake

Maybe so but you still cant predict precisely when it will hatch..
