I posted some pictures the other day not knowing what this bee was. JRsBugs put me on the right road, suggesting it could be Andrena labiata. Thanks Janet!
Reading the Natural History info on this bee, it seems to have drastically disappeared from gardens (being once numerous in certain areas) but I've had it confirmed by Stuart at BWARS today that it IS Andrena labiata. I'm over the moon!
Managed to take a few more pictures of it today, two of the best follow. Apparently one of it's main identifying points is the white face (and obviously the red/orange girdle!)   |
