Hi Alan,

It's a fly from the Bibionidae family, most likely one of the two St. Mark's flies, looking at the dark outer wing-edge. That makes it either B. marci or B. hortulanus, though I am not experienced enough to seperate them.

I'll throw down the gauntlet for someone else...
