| | Re: Snail ID? Hi Carl,
What you have there is a common old Garden Snail - Helix aspera,
Keep looking though, there's Brown lipped snails ,strawberry snails,
Kentish snail, still waiting for you to find them,
Good hunting
Duncan
Carl, try and use the Gallery on WAB to upload your pics, that way you can edit them and give them their proper name

| | | Re: Snail ID? Nope! Still H. aspersa, I don't know if they have different names for the various colour forms - it being a variable species! This one looks like a kind of Tortoiseshell-thing... Try looking under fallen logs for the tiny glass snails; it may be an idea for you to try Googling the aforementioned types first for photos to become more acquainted, then go off hunting. Once it's been raining, you should get more as they become active to start feeding, etc.
Remember we like ID'ing things and helping out. Good luck! |

| | | Re: Snail ID? Hi, the first pic looks similar to the variation Helix aspersa sub.var.punticulata.
The second looks similar to Helix aspersa sub.var.undulata.
If you are going to look for snails remember to take photos of both sides and give rough size, this will help to ID the more difficult species...have fun | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
