| | | Another fly for ID I'm getting to the stage where I'm seeing so many flies that I'm not sure whether they are new to me or not ! So please excuse me if this is similar to any I've posted before |

| | | Re: Another fly for ID Hi Peter,
Iv'e been having a look in the books and my own pics , I'm not that good with ID's of flys but will try to help, it will bump your thread up for another go,
The RM, the cross vein from the radius to media and the colour at the base of the wings, is similar in appearance to the Noonday fly -Mesembrina meridiana, puting it in the family Muscidae- house flies,I dont know if there are different colours for male/female, also check out stable fly - Stomoxis calcitrans, like I said it's only a good guess, hope someone else has a go,
good luck,
Duncan |

| | | Re: Another fly for ID Hi Duncan - I think the wing venation and general size and shape & leg colour are wrong for M.meridiana . I think it's a muscid of some sort. |

| | | Re: Another fly for ID I think Duncan was saying it's a Muscidae member, and drawing on general Muscid-features that are shared between M. meridiana and your individual, just to show it. I'll look into it further if no-one else jump on this one! |

| | | Re: Another fly for ID You're right Jason - I think I misinterpreted what Duncan was saying. I think I need a holiday - I'm off to Mull on Saturday so I won't be posting anything for a bit, you'll be relieved to hear |

| | | Re: Another fly for ID ...so hopefully you'll bring a few more this way!
It's a pleasure helping/assisting with IDs; we all learn through the process! I hope you have a good one... |
