I can confirm its a male
Ive been try to get a picture of one but they never seem to land

Males have the orange tips, females don`t. Both have a marble green underwing. Female looks a bit like a small white but has a dot in each front wing. If I was on the main computer I could show you

If you want to get a photo of a male the best time is in the morning just after they have started flying for the day. They are so intent on feeding you can get very close. |

It landed first on a seed head of Narcissus Thalia with dead flower, I got a pic of it with it's wings closed but it's not the best. Both landing places had green and white, same as the underwings! I have got pics other years though.
Now you know when and what to look for.
