Tiny fly with red body

This fly was only 2mm long and I wouldn't have noticed it in the wood pile were it not for it's bright red body. But after I caught it bits of the red body began to drop off & I then realised that it was covered in red mites. Most had gone before I could get a photo but it's still got quite a load
I think the fly is probably a fungus gant.

Wow, what a load that was! It looks like a Fungus Gnat as you said, maybe dark-winged family Sciaridae - not sure, though I believe Oxycera specialises in them.

it is a sciarid, maybe possible to get to genus if time permitted
