| | | Another Rove beetle Found under a stone. I thought at first that this was Ocypus olens but it didn't seem quite large enough (20mm long) and I'm not sure that that has red tarsi so I'd be grateful for another opinion. |

| | | Re: Another Rove beetle Hi Doggwood. My book says the Philonthus genus has a row of pores on the pronotum on either side of the midline, and I can't see any on mine . Incidentally, as with all my other rove beetles, it was found by the edge of the river.
I've just realised that I copied the size down from the wrong piece of paper - I should have said about 13mm ( which fits better with Philonthus ). Sorry about that .

| | | Re: Another Rove beetle Some species of Philonthus have no punctures. This is a hard group to do live let alone as picture. You really do need to mount them and compare with collections etc.

| | | Re: Another Rove beetle Thanks Jon. I'm just interested in all insects so really I'm perfectly happy to just get a genus - and occasionally a species if I'm lucky | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
