The two similar genera Platydracus & Staphylinus. Staphylinus is seperated as is has gold hairs on the head, (in some species the pronotum) and a more rounded pronotum. S.erythropterus lacks these hairs on the pronotum (which is often smooth and bald), S.caesareus however has a tiny covering of gold hairs on it.
